So much has happened with the IPL. What do you feel about it now?
As far as I am concerned, I will always be a part of the IPL. Like all organizations, the IPL too has good people and some and not-so-good people. I am glad steps are being taken to weed out the undesirable from the IPL. I am sure from now on only good can happen to it. Beyond this I cannot make a comment as I don’t know all the things that are going on.
Has your experience with the IPL during the last few years made you a wiser person?
Oh definitely. And if I've to do it again, I’d do it all over again. My contention is, as long as I do what I do in life with a clean heart, it is okay to go wrong. If we play it safe all the time we cannot live our lives to the fullest. I am happy with everything I've done so far.
Has the IPL experience made you a better actor?
Any experience of life that you can bring to your craft will always be an asset. I've had various experiences. And my failures have always taught me more than success. The one thing that I've learnt is to always follow my instinct.
How did you enjoy your recent stint in Nach Baliye?
I've never been a judge on dance reality show. There were many hiccups. But on the whole it was a rewarding experience. It was a great experience to share the journey of real-life couples on the show.
A lot of the dancing was very clumsy?
They were non-dancers and willing to take the risk of making themselves look clumsy. I enjoyed watching couples bonding so well. But what I didn't enjoy was, all the negative stories about me during my tenure on Nach baliye. In my entire career, I had not encountered such negativity.
Where do think these ugly stories were coming from?
(laughs) Let’s not get into that. But I think the media needs to check its facts. I wish they wouldn't listen to sources who have a hidden agenda. Please don’t look at scratching the surface and come to conclusions. That was the only negative thing on Nach Baliye. And negativity sells. Even Bajrangi Bhaijaan says the same thing.
Do you enjoy dancing?
I LOVE dancing. But the thing is, the kind of roles that I've been doing don’t allow much room for dancing. My films have always been performance-based. In my very first film, 'Kya Kehna' I played a pregnant girl. She couldn’t be expected to dance. Or take any of my films. Where would I dance in Veer-Zaara? But when I got a chance to dance in 'Krissh' and 'Kal Ho Na Ho' I had a ball. Remember Idhar chala udhar chala and It’s the time to disco?
Your life has been pretty much a roller coaster ride in recent years?
Even if it is , make sure it’s a rollicking roller coaster with all the bumps swings and dips. Make the experience a full one. I did.
