Ek Ajnabee - Man on fire
There's no denying that Ek Ajnabee is an clean copy of Denzel Washingtons "Man on Fire". The only thing that was different in Ek Ajnabee was a hotter "bad guy" played by Arjun Rampal and the songs, of course. The only thing the director right though was casting Amitabh Bhachan in Denzel Washingtons role.
Sangharsh - The Silence of the lambs
There's a big reason why Sangharsh tanked big at the box office in 1999. So many things went wrong in Mahesh Bhatt's take on "remaking" the Jodie Fosters thriller "the Silence of the lambs" from 1991.
The Hollywood movie is a creepy thriller and has no romantic angle at all. But in Sangharsh the half crazy professor turned killer is played by Akshay Kumar and the young new cop is played by Preity Zinta. Preity zinta takes the help of Akshay Kumar while he's still in prison to catch the crazy serial killer. Later she falls in love with him and so does he with time. Next thing we know there's a love triangle because her good old friend (Aman Verma) loves her too but got friend-zoned by her. From a psychological thriller to Im-In-Love-With-The-Bad-Boy love story instead. One good thing I can say about Sangharsh is Ashutosh Rana playing the psycho serial killer. His performance was one of the best portrayed in Bollywood.
Chachi 420 - Mrs. Doubtfire
Mrs Doubtfire from 1993 with Robin Williams as the dad-turned-nanny was a highly appreciated comedy. However, Kamal Hassan's performance was also really good, and almost justifies the 'copy'.
Dil bole hadippa -She's the man
"She's the man" is a college comedy movie released in 2006 with Amanda Bynes and Channing Tatum in the lead roles. The film is about an high school girl who takes her twin brother's place in college in order to play in the boys football team. In Dil Bole Hadippa (2009) things are very much alike but dumber. The leads here are Shahid Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee. Shahid plays the coach of his father's cricket team. Rani disguises herself as her fake twin brother to only earn her place in Shahid's team.
Rakht - The gift
In "The Gift" thriller Cate Blanchett plays a psychic and lives in a small town where many turn to her for help. Rakht is an exact copy where even the scenes are shot in the same way. Bipasha during promotions did mention that her movie was inspired from "the Gift".
Mohabbatein - Dead Poets Society
Another Robin Williams film thats been remade in Bollywood without copyrights is SRK's Mohabbatein. The movie is completley a hindi speaking version of "Dead poets society" released in 1989 but with an typical Indian twist. Robin Williams is a new english teacher in a high school and inspires his students to go against society's typical norms. One of the students has a very strict father who expects him to proceed to Yale and become a lawyer when he actually wants to become a writer.
In Mohabbatein the strict diciplin character is the school's principal which is portrayed by Mr. Bhachan while SRK is the music teacher instead. The twist is SRK being the true lover of the principal's deceased daughter.
Deewan Huye Paagl- There's something About Mary
Deewane huye paagal is sadly another copy-paste film of Ben stiller and Cameron Diaz starrer "There's something about Mary". While Shahid plays the nerdy Ben stillers character who has always been secretly in love with his high school crush played by Rimi sen. The aashiqs who are after Mary also exist in "Deewane huye paagal" played by Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Sunil Shetty. Although "There's something about Mary" was hilarious DHP tanked badly at the bo.
Satte Pe Satta - Seven brides For Seven Brothers
The much appreciated classic comedy with Amitabh Bhachan and Hema Malini "Satte Pe Satta" from 1982 was no original if you may have thought so. The movie is another remake by Hollywood's classic from 1954 comedy "Seven Brides For Seven Brothers".
Ladies vs Ricky Bahl - John Tucker must die
Ranveer Singhs second movie "Ladies vs Ricky Bahl" is another spin off "John Tucker must die" The little difference is Ranveer plays a con man who cons women into falling for him. The three ladies from different world and personalities decides to take him down by hiring Anushka to give his own taste of medicine. The American version takes place in high school and John tucker is the rich prince charming of the school. He plays with three other hearts but later sees himself in their situation.
