After the slapstick comedy “Humshakals”, Saif Ali Khan is back with his old charm in “Happy Ending”. In an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla, Saif talks about his forthcoming movie, rom-coms and his character Yogi.
Talking about reinventing himself in the comedy genre, he said, “You can’t keep doing the same thing. Romantic comedies, in my experience, are a difficult kind of movie to make, in a sense there is maturing of me, I hope, there is also maturing of the kind of films that we are making, because rom-coms in the past that I have done have slightly, by definition, frivolous characters and they are difficult to take very seriously.”
“So we wanted to add a little bit of vulnerability to the character, you should feel for him,” Saif added.
He also said that “Happy Ending” is conversational film, adding, “It’s a film that’s not real but it’s about somebody’s life. So it’s kind of a slice-of-life movie.”
The actor will essay the role of Yudi, a writer, in the movie and his alter ego is Yogi. Directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, “Happy Ending” also features Ileana D’Cruz, Govinda, Kalki Koechlin and Ranvir Shorey. Kareena Kapoor Khan and Preity Zinta will be seen in a cameo. The movie will hit the screens on November 21.
